Fish sauce and oyster sauce appear in dishes that look completely safe. Show the Vietnamese sentence, then ask again when the plate arrives.
Please do not use fish sauce, oyster sauce, dried shrimp or seafood stock.

Com ga, banh mi ga, vegetable fried rice, tofu with tomato, stir-fried vegetables and vegetarian restaurants are the easiest starts.
With pho ga, confirm chicken broth. With bun cha or grilled pork, the dipping sauce normally contains fish sauce. Ask for soy sauce or salt and lime instead.
Cards for the big bits. Cash for the small bits.
Use a card for hotels, domestic flights, major operators and larger restaurants. Keep smaller notes for markets, local taxis, tips and village tickets.

Long transfers should be confirmed in writing with pickup time, luggage space, tolls and the exact drop point included.
The mountain gets a vote.
If Fansipan is closed, windy or fully white, keep the money and use the pool, spa, town and one short valley drive instead.
If Mua Cave is wet, use the lower lotus viewpoint. If Hon Thom suspends service, make it a beach and Sunset Town day.

- Light clothes and a compact umbrella for Saigon and Phu Quoc
- Warm mid-layer, windproof shell, trousers and gloves for Fansipan
- Shoes with grip for Mua Cave, Cat Cat and wet cruise decks
- One small day bag each for Lan Ha Bay and the Sapa transfers
- Prescription medicines plus a basic stomach and motion-sickness kit
- Universal adapter, power bank and waterproof phone pouch
Paperwork that earns its luggage space.
- Passport valid for at least six months after arrival
- Printed e-visa plus offline PDF on every phone
- Travel insurance certificate and assistance number
- Domestic flight, Cat Ba transfer, day cruise and Sapa bus confirmations
- Written dietary confirmations for the cruise and anniversaries
